Filming Roles For Media Shoot
There are five essential jobs that need to be filled before our shoot to make sure our production works and everything falls into place and is being taken care of. Obviously two of us will need to have an extra task because we dont have 5 people but thats fine because we can have a clearer image with fewer people.Director
A film director is great job if someone likes to direct the crew and actors. The directors role is to visulise what the shots and overall structure of the production will be like and directs the crew into creating this. I believe that in our group we will all be leading the direction as we all have a similar image in our head and this is a group task afterall. Although we are all directors I believe it would make sense if we worked on a rota and swapped roles on each scene we shoot so we all get individual understandings on how everything was put together.
Camera Man / Camera Women
A cameraman / women's responsibility is for operating the camera and capturing everything that the director wants to be visulised. In other words the camera operator is the directors eyes when it comes to filming the event which is taking place. They will need to think about composition and also be ready to take orders from and cooperate with the director to make sure the final image is what the director was looking for.
I have a passion in photography and filming and this task will definatley be the most enjoyable for me as although I still have things to learn as I will be new to the cameras being used in the studio. I feel as if I can guide the others in my group if anything happens on the day and they need a helping hand.
The Art Director
The art director is responsible for organsing the location, costume, props, make up and continuity to avoid any embarrasing errors that pop up and someone notices. Moving furniture into specific positions and making sure all the clips match will assure this. They will be making the decisions on the visual elements that will be used and making sure everything flows well. If the art director does their job well it makes the editing a far easier process.
I believe for our production we again should share this task and rotate as it would be nice to learn this. Although I am aware that Gabi has an interest in this task and will let her focus more on this job as I will stick to the camera.
Producer
The producer as a role is Playing a role of producer is not for such a big scale in our music video production. I think in our case the job is really similar to the role of the director, therefore each of the group members could do the job. Everyone is well prepared when it comes to the flow of the shoot and what we are supposed to do. In my opinion we should switch the job so at different scene someone else is making sure that everything goes smooth, that there is a general concentration and 'peace' on the set and that everyone from the crew knows what to do and where to be
The
producer has an important role that focuses on the production of the
whole movie. The producer is responsible for arranging everything from
managing the budget, looking for crew, sorting out the equipment, making
a general schedule for the shooting, working on the set designs and
scripts.

Sound Playback
Sound Playback
People
responsible for light and sound are making sure that the lighting is
right with the requirements, it is also taking care of the general
appearance of the shot. Sound crew is responsible for the quality of the
sound, in our case the sound is one of the most important aspects,
since we rely on a good lip sync and the sound in general.
I
would like to be responsible for the lighting in the padded room while
we are shooting the DJ, because we decided on strobe and colorful lights
and I think it would be a good new experience since it also will add
more artists and visual aspect to the video, which I am interested in.
Teddy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for completing the shot list and other blog posts entries for the week - albeit submitted in a hurried fashion. Sound progress on the shot list. You show good understanding of what is required – I feel that this is work in review. As an organic process your shot list will develop and prepare you for lies ahead - you and your group will need to complete this prior to the shoot. This has been presented as a Google document and you have attempted to structure what will be filmed using which actors and which props during each part of your shoot day this needs completing nearer the shoot day. For your role in the filming of the music video shoot please show understanding that media production is social collaboration which requires a division of labour – specialised skills in order to manufacture the right shots in getting the correct representation of the star image for the ‘pop promo’ and single release. You recognise this on your blog but greater reflection means you need to evaluate what roles you will be taking on come the day of your shoot. Also blog any discussions you have had about set builds this week and signing up a theatrical artist to perform the 'hanging man' stunt in the TV studio.
