Location

Location First Ideas

We have just been discussing on a location where this scene is going to be shot. We either have the choice of going to an actual location with a roof of a building and this will take away the effort of using special effects. However the weather may not be reliable and that's always a gamble. We also have to consider the fact that health and safety is going to restrict us from lots of shot if we do go on a roof to shoot.

We have begun suggesting the use of a green screen and creating an artificial roof i believe this will have more benefits than drawbacks in comparison to shooting the scene for real as weather and other factors wont effect a fake scene inside an indoor studio. We can also take away the health and safety side of things as the "roof" will only be a few feet up and the surroundings will be green screened. I also think it will benefit us using a green screen as we will be taught a completely different side to shooting films for example using a wind machine and lighting just to add an extra touch to the scene. However the post production stage is a far longer process with the use of green screen as most of the action takes place there with keying, layers and adding backdrops.

From doing some research as far as i can see green screening has to be precise and takes a lot of effort to create a scene for instance in the superman film they had to suspend him, use a wind machine and even get two puppeteers for his cape in green suits so they don't show on the final shot. It is a longer process but i believe would benefit the most if we used one to shoot our thriller introduction.
