Green Screen VS Real Thing

The real thing may look better in the final outcome however there are problems and risks that are caused if you do use the real thing. Obviously the positives about not using a green screen is the fact that the scenes are already created for you. This saves time as you dont have to re-build a huge scene,

I believe they used an actual building in Man On A Ledge is the pure fact because the whole film is based on this building therefor it will cost less as CGI can be very expensive especially for long durations in a film. Post production is an extremely shorter process because you dont need to key in backrounds onto green screens. The time you have is extremely short however because roads may be closed, weather and other factors that will effect your shoot.

The negatives on using the actual building is because there are huge restrictions caused on the health and safety side of things. We are surrounded by safety laws and because of this there are many things you need in order to film in a safe environment. This can be hard during filming as safety equipment can get in the way of shots and is rather hard to set up.

As you can see from these shots he is attached to a safety harness and there are huge scaffolding controlling the cameras as the areas being shot from are restricted from the camera men as obviously they cant float. There has been CGI used in this movie however to edit out the safety equipment and replace it with building to make it look higher.
