Analysing another title sequence

Casino Royale Opening Sequence Analysis

From the very start the sound of the gun shot and the music instantly gives away to the audience what type of film they are watching as it is made incredibly obvious by the familiar sound of a gunshot. The gunshot almost stuns the audience and gives them an idea that similar sounds will be heard in the actual film. Blood then poors down as the sillouhette of Bond stands there. This represents James as a dangerous character an emphasises the fact he has a higher status and is a more trained killer.

When the animations start appearing you can already recognize some of the patterns. They clearly symbolise cards this may refer to the audience that Bond will be taking gambles and risks throughout the film. The animation of the spade being shot at the man symbolises that there will be death and danger involved and based around the concept of gambling and playing your cards.
Throughout the film a character that resembles Bond is animated in a playing card style way. This symbolises that he is part of the gamble. He is represented as wearing a black suit and white shirt wherewaas the people he is attacking are fully red. The colour of the enemies represent danger which again foreshadows the film.
The song sings the lyrics "If you come inside things will not be the same" this symbolises the dangers of the film and again prepares the audience for what they are about to see. At 1:35 what appears to be a crosshair goes across the queen of hearts which then turns into a woman with red lipstick this resembles danger lust and blood the queen of hearts is known to be a quite a manipulative character and is a key clue for the audience before it starts.
Overall Casino Royales title sequence highlights key clues and foreshadows most of the story before the film is even started. It is our job as an audience to debunk these clues and work out what they mean. I believe this is the reason i enjoy it so much as you have to work out whats going on.
